Packers, CASA Association announce donation to Barron County

Barron County (WQOW) – A very special delivery was made in Barron County on Monday with the help of the Green Bay Packers.

The Wisconsin CASA program delivered six suitcases to be used by kids in the child welfare system.

The “My Stuff, My Bag” drive is sponsored by the Packers and benefits the Wisconsin CASA Association.

The goal is to give kids in the welfare system a sense of ownership and pride during tough times. The backpacks were given to the Barron County Department of Health and Human Services to be distributed to children.

Barron County recently established the ninth CASA program in the state.

The program pairs volunteers with a child going through the court system. That volunteer advocates for the child’s best interests with the court.

County officials hope the program will help their youngest citizens who are caught up in the ongoing meth epidemic.
