Feed My People serving 14% more seniors

Chippewa Valley (WQOW) – A major food distributor to those in need said it is providing more of the community’s largest-growing demographic with healthy food.

Feed My People’s objective is to serve as many people as it can and being able to reach seniors is a large part of it.

Feed My People has been able to increase its service to seniors by 14% over the last three years.

Staff say their partnership with local programs such as meals on wheels and ADRC is a big part of being able to reach more seniors.

“As we’re starting to understand the intersection of hunger and health, just how important it is that we reach them, that makes the most sense, the way that’s most meaningful to them. That requires partnership. We can’t do that alone. Again, it’s our community, it’s our partnerships that make that happen,” said Suzanne Becker, assistant director of Feed My People.

Becker also said the goal is to take the need of purchasing food off seniors’ plate and allow them to focus on medical bills.
