Higher temperatures mean higher attendance at Fairfax Pool

Eau Claire (WQOW) – Lots of people were opting to take a dip in the pool to beat the heat on Friday.

There were more swimmers at Fairfax Pool due to the high temperatures and humidity.

To address these hotter days their lifeguards are specially trained to spot signs of sun sickness, heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

The pool also tends to stay open a bit later to accommodate families and their schedules.

“It’s been a hot week so there’s been lots of people here, and it’s great to see so many people using our facility and trying to keep cool. When it gets pretty hot we like to open the pool for an extra half hour to hour or so to make sure everyone gets the chance to stay cool,” said Emma Lauer, pool specialist at Fairfax.

On Saturday, July 20 the pool is hosting a family swim event all day where fees are waived courtesy of Mayo Clinic Health System.
