Chippewa Falls (WQOW) – Just like that another Northern Wisconsin State Fair is in the books and fair management is already getting ready for next year.
Executive Director Rusty Volk told News 18 while he does not have exact numbers yet, attendance is up from 2018’s 92,000 people who came through the gates.
Volk said the weather has a big impact on turnout and he said this year’s sunshine brought people out in droves.
He added he saw more people in strollers and wheelchairs than ever before, which shows the fair in Chippewa Falls is for people of all ages.
Volk said the fair employs over 100 people and more than 20 paid volunteer groups for the week. He said by the time they are done with payroll, premiums for exhibitors and other expenses like electricity, they are happy just to make enough money to keep the fair going year after year.
Plans are already in place for the fair in 2020. That is scheduled for July 8-12.
