New exhibits and attractions at the Northern Wisconsin State Fair

Chippewa Falls (WQOW)- In just a few days the Northern Wisconsin State Fair will open its gates, and there will be plenty of new attractions to take in.

Fair officials said this year, a new competition has kids using Lego’s to re-create well-known buildings around Chippewa Falls.

Rusty Volk, the executive director of the fair, said the agriculture tent will host more animal exhibits than ever before.

Volk said there will be goats, llamas and sheep for people to see, along with a new draft horse show on Sunday.

Organizers will also pay homage to past fairs as well.

“We’re going to have a show of what the fair was back in 1942, 1948 and 1960,” Volk said. “We’ve brought up some old film so you’ll be able to watch to see what the fair was like back in those days.”

You can find that exhibit at the WQOW News 18 Science Technology Building.

The fair opens Wednesday morning.
