WQOW (Eau Claire) – The Fourth of July kicked off the year’s biggest month for ice cream.
The International Dairy Foods Association reoports 98 percent of us buy ice cream. Blayne Midthun, owner of Ramone’s Ice Cream Parlor, said he expects business to take off on the Fourth and remain steady until the weather cools down.
“July is our busiest month of the whole summer and it definitely begins with that Fourth of July day and the week right around the Fourth of July,” Midthun said.
Ramone’s has been open just over two years, but Midthun said business is booming with new construction downtown and a rise in tourism.
Nine percent of all milk produced by American farmers is used to make ice cream.
