Eau Claire (WQOW) – If your holiday plans include making your way out to Carson Park to see the big fireworks show, don’t let cloudy skies hold you back. Organizers say there is not much that can cause the event to be canceled.
Thursday night’s forecast may call for clouds and scattered rain, but unless there is a high chance of lightning or strong winds, the technicians behind the show say they do everything possible to light the sky as planned.
“All of the racks will be covered in plastic and if need by we would just shoot through the plastic if we had to,” said Ken Schroeder, lead pyrotechnician at Ace Pyro. “Usually right before the show we’ll take the plastic off and just shoot the show as normal.”
Schroeder said the show may begin a few minutes before or after 10 p.m. depending on possible light showers.
Regardlee he said he expects the show, which will be two minutes longer than last year’s, will be unaffected by any amounts of clouds or rain.
