07/02: Interview – Menomonie Airfest and Autorama

It’s almost time for the Menomonie Airfest and Autorma!

Held at the Menomonie Municipal Airport on Indianhead Drive, this event evolved 7 years ago from the Fly-In Pancake Breakfast which has been held every year since the inception of the airport in 1986. Now the event is a  full air and car show.

The goal is to provide a family-oriented community event that has something for everyone.

Fly-In for the pancake breakfast with local and not so local pilots flying and on display. Larry Jess has organized and made pancakes for over 30 years. There will also be food and merchandise vendors, as well as a beer garden.

The Radar Run is where anyone can race ¼ mile against the radar gun time clock on the closed runway for $25. Trophies will be given out for fastest car and fastest motorcycle. There will also be stationary exhibits from new cars and trucks to emergency vehicles.

There will also be a Kids Korral with a bouncy house, bungie jumping, a car from the movie “Cars,” and tractor pulled train and face painting. As well as a candy drop from Arvold Helicopter Services.

Air show opens at 1:00 with Honor Guard performance, and parachuters carrying the US flag during the singing of the National Anthem, sung by Mayor Randy Knaack. The Radar Run will be from 11:30 A.M till 12:45 P.M. And the car show will be from 8:00 A.M. – 3:00 P.M.

There is a $10 admission fee but kids under 12 are free. There is also free parking from 8:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. For more information, watch the full interview above!
