UPDATE: The Eau Claire County Parks and Forest Department announced on Tuesday the Coon Fork Lake Dayside Beach is now open again, meaning as of July 2 all public beaches in Eau Claire County are open.
Eau Claire County (WQOW) – One of the beaches at Coon Fork Lake has reopened – but it does not necessarily mean you can use it.
The campground beach at the park is now open. It was closed earlier in the week because of high bacteria. That beach is only open to people staying at the campground, not the general public.
The other beach there, Coon Fork Lake Dayside Beach, remains closed.
All other beaches in the county are open.
Eau Claire County (WQOW) – Because of high levels of bacteria, Coon Fork Lake beaches are closed effective immediately.
That was announced by the Eau Claire County Parks and Forest Department on Wednesday morning.
They say Lake Eau Claire, Big Falls and Lake Altoona Park beaches remain open.
The area will continue to be tested for bacteria and the department will announce when the beaches reopen.
