Bloomer man gets time behind bars for sexually assaulting boy at restaurant

Eau Claire County (WQOW) – A registered sex offender will spend time behind bars for sexually assaulting a boy in a restaurant restroom.

Derrik Sheffield from Bloomer is accused of assaulting the 10-year-old boy in March of 2018 while they were in the restroom of an Eau Claire restaurant.

Wednesday, Sheffield pleaded guilty to 1st degree sexual assault of a child and bail jumping

Judge Emily Long sentenced him to 12 years behind bars and 10 years of extended supervision.

He’s also ordered to register as a sex offender for life and not have contact with anyone under 18 unless given permission from an agent.
