5-year-old thrown from Mall of America balcony still in intensive care

(WQOW) – The five-year-old who was thrown from a balcony at the Mall of America remains in intensive care because of complications.

According to a post on the boy’s GoFundMe page, he has undergone 15 separate medical procedures, including surgeries for two broken arms and a broken leg, removal of his spleen, procedures for fluid in his lungs and stomach, as well as for facial and skull fractures. They add just this past weekend, he had a stent placed in a vein that runs through his liver because of the serious complications he continues to endure.

His family says they do not know when they will be able to go home, but the power of God’s love is keeping them strong.

The man responsible for the boy’s injuries, Emmanuel Aranda, was sentenced to 19 years in prison.
