$500 rock found by group of 4 in Eau Claire

Eau Claire (WQOW) – If you are out looking for RCU’s $500 rock, you can stop. Someone beat you to the prize.

More: Find this rock for $500

According to RCU, Wyatt Eiden from Chippewa Falls, his brother and two friends, found the rock Wednesday in Owen Park by the Lake Street bridge stairs.

The four started looking for the rock on Tuesday morning.

“We drove across Eau Claire going from park to park scouting around,” Eiden said. “After going to a couple of parks we seemed to be lost. We went to Owen Park and began walking around, a lady asked if we were looking for the rock claiming she had just finished looking for three hours and wished us luck with our adventure.”

The group searched all day and into the night on Tuesday. Wednesday morning they went back to Owen Park but still didn’t quite find the right spot.  “It wasn’t until we went back a bit later, a little less sleep deprived, but still devoted, that I decided to check the hill next to the stairs by Lake St Bridge that I found the rock face down,” Eiden said. After finding the rock I was filled with a bundle of emotions of excitement and happiness.”

The rock hunt is a promo for Rock the Riverfront, a walk/run that benefits Eau Claire Public Schools Foundation, The Open Door Clinic, and Stepping Stones of Dunn County.
