Eau Claire (WQOW)- On Wednesday hundreds grabbed their yoga mats for a party at Phoenix Park.
Community members and yoga enthusiasts celebrated the 4th annual International Day of Yoga by participating in a free class over at the pavilion in the park.
Last year over 600 people showed up to participate in the free yoga class. That’s according to Amy Erickson, the instructor of Wednesday’s class.
Erickson said she’s expecting around the same amount of people, or more to participate in Wednesday’s class.
She said this class is beginner-friendly, and all you need to bring with you is a yoga mat or beach towel and some water.
“Yoga is really great for the physical body,” Erickson said. “It’s also really great for mental well-being too, so we love to reinforce taking yoga off the mat, but today we will be having a physical yoga practice as people mostly know it, but it’s really accessible to everybody.”
Along with the free yoga, Ramone’s Ice Cream Parlor was handing out free mini scoops of ice cream to those at the yoga class.
If you weren’t able to make it to Wednesday’s yoga class at Phoenix Park, there will be more destination classes throughout the summer.
