Eau Claire hotel set for demo donates furniture to local charities

Eau Claire (WQOW) – It’s move out day at the Clarion Hotel in Eau Claire, and almost everything inside will go toward helping others.

Larson Companies owns the former Clarion Hotel which is going to be torn down to make way for new hotels, and what better way to get rid of the almost 200 beds, tables, and furniture than to donate it right back into the community to those who need it.

Western Dairyland Housing and Services Coordinator Jeanne Semb said the furniture will go to organizations like Lutheran Social Services, Beacon House and Catholic Charities.

About 20 volunteers helped move furniture Monday, but it’s a big job, and might take all week.

Semb said Western Dairyland has never had a donation this big and able to help so many people.

“I’m really excited because this allows other agencies that are working with housing challenges and gives people the ability to be able to provide these much needed furnishings in their home,” Semb said.

Semb said they still need more volunteers to help pack furniture.
