Eau Claire (WQOW) – It’s mid-June, and that means the Northwoods Baseball League is now in full swing. The Eau Claire Express have been on the diamond for a few weeks, but now that school is out they finally have their roster intact for the upcoming months.
The team is just excited to put the finished product out on the field.
“It’s fun getting everyone back,” says Express pitcher Phillip Sikes. “I played here last year and getting everyone back here for summer, it’s a good time.”
Express have been playing well, including winning five consecutive games about a week ago.
“I think we have a good roster of guys and a lot of talent on the team,” says infielder Troy Beilsmith. “It’s starting to come together. You can start to see that when you come out to the ballpark and see us compete in pretty much every game for the last week or two.”
“We finally got a group of guys in now, I think we pretty much solidified our team,” says infielder Sam Kohnle. “We’re gelling together pretty well and playing some good baseball. These guys are great guys and great ballplayers. It’s good to be around them.”
And the guys are convinced that the best is yet to come.
“We are just starting up,” says Sikes. “I think we’re going to get this rolling soon.”
