Eau Claire (WQOW) — Starting next week, you may have to adjust your daily commute, as a couple major road construction projects begin.
On Monday, June 17, Lake Street will be closed for roadwork from the bridge to Farwell Street.
City Engineer officials told News 18 the project is expected to last through August, as they’re completely reconstructing the underground utilities, adding new curbs and gutters, new pavement, making some lane changes and adding bike lanes.
Leah Ness, the City of Eau Claire’s deputy engineer, said they hope to have the bridge open for pedestrians, but detours will be in place for drivers.
“Take your time, be courteous to the construction workers out there,” Ness said. “It is a closed detour so we shouldn’t have traffic going through the work-zone, but plan your route ahead of time.”
Also, on Wednesday, June 19, construction on State Street will begin, from Bartlett Avenue to Hamilton Avenue.
