Eau Claire man accused of robbing tobacco store formally charged

Eau Claire (WQOW) – Formal charges have been filed against the Eau Claire man accused of robbing a tobacco store at gunpoint.

Michael Heil, 38, was charged Thursday with armed robbery and two misdemeanor counts of bail jumping.

Police said he showed a gun and robbed the Eau Claire Tobacco Shop on Gateway Drive Tuesday night around 8:30. He was eventually arrested on Eau Claire’s northwest side with a BB gun and a “large amount of money” in the car.

Heil is being held on a $5,000 cash bond. He is due in court late next month.
