Gov. Evers highlights Wisconsin tourism, economy during Eau Claire stop

Eau Claire (WQOW) — Governor Tony Evers was in Eau Claire Tuesday, continuing his state tour highlighting National Travel and Tourism Week.

Governor Evers and Tourism Secretary-designee Sara Meaney toured the Pablo Center at the Confluence Tuesday afternoon.

During his stop, Evers announced $5 million in tourism marketing will be included in his state budget, claiming for every dollar spent on tourism, Wisconsin sees seven dollars in revenue.

“Whether it’s the arts, whether it’s recreation, whether it’s making sure that our state parks are in good shape, all those things really play a role in this and it makes Wisconsin a more attractive place to live and work,” Evers said.

Meaney added one in 13 jobs in Wisconsin is supported by tourism, and said the addition budget funded could help that statistic grow, translating to more jobs locally.
