Wisconsin students ride tractors to school, raise money for leukemia patient

Auburndale (WAOW) — Students in Auburndale ditched their cars and school buses Friday morning rode tractors to school instead.

It’s all to help raise money for a young boy battling Leukemia.

Gage Zellner may look like your average two-year-old boy. But the last few months since his diagnosis have been troubling for his family.

Bring Your Tractor to School Day aims to shoulder some of that financial burden.

“Handing that check over to the parents. You just start tearing up. It feels so good to give back to the community. And having so many farm kids in the community, say hey, let’s do that, let’s do a drive, let’s raise some money for this kid,” said Auburndale High School Junior Katie Helminiak.

The event ended up raising $16,000.
