Roundabout resolution rejected for ‘dangerous’ Bloomer intersection

Chippewa County (WQOW) – There was another push to add a roundabout to an intersection just outside of Bloomer, where last year, a crash claimed the life of a driver.

The Chippewa County Traffic Safety Commission met Thursday morning to discuss construction projects planned for the year, and another request for a roundabout at the intersection of Highway 64, 40 and F, but it was rejected.

County Highway Commissioner Brian Kelley said despite a formal request from the Bloomer City Council, the intersection will remain the same. The state Department of Transportation said a roundabout is not warranted for the intersection, because in 2015, the DOT did some work to improve it. However, Kelley said the DOT will continue to monitor the intersection.
