Eau Claire (WQOW) — Absentee voting is underway for the April 2 election.
If you can’t make it to the polls or simply want to skip the wait in line, Eau Claire residents can fill out a ballot early at city hall. Early voting is open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Plenty of seats are being contested in local governing bodies and Eau Claire City Clerk Carrie Riepl expects a high voter turnout.
“We ordered ballots for a 35 percent turnout, and we’re hoping for a great turnout,” Riepl said.
Voter turnout broke a state record in 2018 for the November midterms. However, only 8% of Eau Claire’s registered voters hit the polls for the primaries.
Chippewa Falls and Altoona residents can also visit their city hall and cast vote early.
The last day to vote by absentee ballot is Friday, March 29.
