Tools for Schools: Delong classroom to receive new chairs

Eau Claire (WQOW) – Every month News 18 along with CCF Bank and Asher Lasting Exteriors awards an area school with a $500 grant called “Tools for Schools.”

February’s grant went to a classroom at Delong Middle School to purchase new chairs.

The class is an emotional behavior disability class, and the teacher Wendy Hanson said she applied for the grant hoping to purchase different types of chairs for her students to sit on.

Her classroom is a self-contained classroom, meaning many of her students are in the room for a large portion of the day.

“I find that my students are more likely to do their work and are more likely to be successful in their work if they are in comfortable chairs and if they aren’t sitting on hard plastic chairs all the time,” Hanson said.

She said some of the chairs her students love are wiggle seats and bean bag chairs.
