Eau Claire City Council seats on Tuesday’s primary ballot

Eau Claire (WQOW) – Tuesday is Eau Claire’s spring primary election where voters will whittle down the field for  Eau Claire City Council.

So many people are running that this primary was necessary. Twelve people are vying for five seats on the council.

Tuesday’s results will decide the 10 who will make it to the ballot in April. For this type of primary election, Eau Claire City Clerk Carrie Riepl said usually only about 12 percent of registered voters will head to the polls.

Tomorrow, she expects 20 percent to show up.

“They’re engaged, they want to know what’s going on, and they want to be active in the decisions that are made in our city,” Riepl said.

The 12 candidates featured on tomorrow’s ballot are as follows:

Riepl said it’s a full field because more citizens are interested in politics and the decision making process in their country and community. She adds that voters have more choices allowing them to be more particular about who they vote for.
