Health officials encourage dialogue about drugs and alcohol

Eau Claire (WQOW) — It’s National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week, and local health officials are encouraging to brush up on what you may not know.

Eau Claire City-County Health officials told News 18 this week is a good time to talk with your kids about drugs and alcohol, to help address concerns they may share. They also recommend knowing how to prevent drug and alcohol misuse in your own home, by clear communication with your children and locking up and alcohol or prescriptions you have.

The National Institute for Drug Abuse (NIDA) is offering an IQ challenge to encourage you to learn more about drug and alcohol issues.

“What is dabbing? Some parents might know of it as the dance or the dance move, but really what is that and what does it have to do with drugs and alcohol? There might be some terminology that might be new to some,” said Community Health Educator Sarah Dillivan-Pospisil.

There are several resources the health department offers if you have questions or concerns related to drug and alcohol. Those can be found here

If you’d like to test your drug and alcohol IQ, you can take the NIDA’s quiz here.
