Crews start taking down Irvine Park’s Christmas Village

Chippewa Falls (WQOW) – Cleanup of a popular holiday attraction at Irvine Park began Wednesday.

Crews started taking down the Christmas Village, the half-mile display that took six weeks to put up. Now they’ll remove more than 200 structures and roughly 100,000 lights.

Park Foreman Kevin Sweeney said it was a great year for the display and his crew feels very fortunate to have so much support from the community. “We get hundreds of volunteers from the public groups that come in to help set up structures and lights and we’re very fortunate that way,” Sweeney said.

Sweeney said it will take the crews through at least next week to finish taking down all the lights and displays. You can volunteer by contacting the Chippewa Falls Parks, Recreation and Forestry at 715-723-0051 or their website.
