Eau Claire (WQOW) – An Eau Claire man agreed to a plea deal on Monday in a stalking case.
Brian Hertig pleaded guilty to sending a threatening message, bail jumping and disorderly conduct in an agreement with prosecutors.
Judge Emily Long sentenced Hertig to 18 months of probation as part of the deferred prosecution agreement. He is ordered to have no contact with the victim and must go through a domestic violence evaluation.
Eau Claire (WQOW) – Charges of stalking and making threats, were filed Thursday against an Eau Claire man.
Brian Hertig was taken into custody Wednesday outside of his ex-girlfriend’s home.
According to the complaint, Hertig had been sending messages to his ex since June – many of them homicidal in nature. He also said he planned to stalk her, saying “she is his for life.” In a message, he said there was nowhere she could go where he could not see her.
When he was arrested, police said Hertig was acting paranoid and was unstable.
He returns to court Tuesday, July 31. He’s being held on $1,000 cash bond.
