2 arrested after firing shots in Eau Claire

Eau Claire (WQOW) – Two men are behind bars after a report of gun shots in Eau Claire Sunday night.

Eau Claire police were called out for a report of gun shots Sunday around 9:30 p.m. on the 1100 block of Meridian Heights Drive.

A caller said a vehicle sped away after the shots were fired. Police then saw a vehicle that matched the description driving at a high rate of speed on West Clairemont Avenue near University Drive. Police were able to stop the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle, Carnell Blair, 25, was arrested for driving while intoxicated (2nd offense), operating while revoked, failing to install an ignition interlock device and a Department of Corrections hold.

Blair’s passenger, Lamont Davis, 29, was arrested for intoxicated use of a firearm, recklessly endangering safety, bail jumping and disorderly conduct.

Police found a 9mm handgun and ammo in the vehicle. They also found three shell casings from a 9mm on Meridian Heights Drive.

According to police, Davis became more disorderly when he was being taken to the hospital for a blood draw. Additional charges of criminal damage to property and threats to an officer were added after he made threats and damaged items in the ambulance bay.

Nobody was injured during the incident.
