THE FRIDAY FACTS…BEST CARE CHATS EDUCATION SERIES HELPS COMMUNITY MEMBERS LEARN ABOUT BRAIN HEALTH WHILE ENJOYING THE COMPANY OF OTHERS.
IF YOU STOP by Dove Healthcare–West Eau Claire on a Friday morning during the spring and summer, you are likely to find a large group gathered in the Community Room listening to a guest speaker share information about a particular aspect of brain health.
This might sound like summer school, but it’s actually the immensely popular Friday Facts…Best Care Chats education series. For the past nine years, the series has offered local residents the chance to learn about topics ranging from the link between diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease to how to better connect with friends and family on social media.
“We were looking for an avenue for seniors to socialize and learn something new,” says Angela Hite, Regional Director of Community Relations for Dove Healthcare. “When we started the series, we probably averaged around
25 people in attendance. Now, we’re closer to 100.”
The Aging & Disability Resource Center of Eau Claire County co-sponsors the series, which takes place every other Friday, May through August, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The theme for the 2018 series is “Opening Pathways to Better Brain Health.”
