Hot and humid weather is only a few days away. While we haven’t had much yet this summer, the trend will change after a few more rounds of thunderstorm chances.
Afternoon clouds and showers kept us cooler today, though it was a little muggy out with dew points topping out around 60. Temperatures were at best around 70 degrees. We’ll see more sunshine tomorrow, but the humidity won’t be too bad with dew points only in the upper 50s to low 60s. It may be breezy at times with gusts in the 20s approaching 30 mph.
In the afternoon, there’s just a slight chance for pop up thunderstorms with best chances south and east of western Wisconsin. Any storm that does pop up would be capable of producing small hail and brief strong wind gusts.
Wednesday looks great once again. Our highs will climb to the mid 80s but the humidity won’t quite be here yet. A warm looks to move through Thursday, and that will bring the hot and humid air. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will accompany this front, especially Thursday afternoon and overnight.
This weekend looks to stay mostly dry, but high temperatures will approach 90 degrees and dew points look to be very uncomfortable in the 70s. The heat index values look to climb into at least the mid 90s, and could briefly approach 100 degrees for what it feels like. Now is the time to check your air conditioners to make sure they’re working. More people die in the United States from heat than any other weather phenomenon.
Rain and storm chances return Monday, and while it won’t be quite as warm, air next week does look to stay above average.
