Justin Esterly

Justin Esterly is our weekend meteorologist and weekday night-side multi-media journalist. Justin joined WQOW News 18 in May 2018.

He interned at Kare 11 in the Twin Cities in the summer of 2017. Justin enjoys all types of weather, but his favorite to study is the structure of super cell thunderstorms.

Justin grew up in the northwest suburbs of Minneapolis. He attended St. Cloud State University (SCSU) where he achieved his bachelor’s in meteorology with a minor in computing. During his time at SCSU he was involved with UTVS, the school’s local television station. He was also a member of the AMS/NWA club.

Being from Minnesota, Justin is also heavily involved with USA Hockey Officiating Program. He’s in his 11th¬†season as an on-ice official. He has worked many levels of junior hockey from the USHL, NAHL and NA3HL. Justin says he plans to make his way into NCAA Men’s Division III Hockey next season.

Outside of work and officiating, you’ll find Justin running trails or out on the golf course. He’ll also be proudly cheering on his favorite sports teams like the Minnesota Wild, Vikings and Twins.
