Eau Claire (WQOW) – An Eau Claire man is charged after he admitted to killing his two dogs.

Bryce Winchell faces five counts of mistreatment of animals.

According to the criminal complaint, his ex-girlfriend told police he would beat the animals for small mistakes. Neighbors also told police they heard the incidents.

When interviewed, Winchell initially denied the claims. He ultimately admitted to killing the dogs, but said both times it was an accident.

He said the first was accidentally thrown down a flight of stairs and the other was kicked after it bit him.

Winchell is free on a signature bond. A hearing has been scheduled for November 13.
