UPDATE: Teen arrested for threatening shooting at Durand-Arkansaw school

UPDATE: Durand police have released the name of the person accused of threatening to execute a shooting at a Durand-Arkansaw school.

Jacob Gunderson, 17, was arrested for making terrorist threats, harassment and unlawful use of a computerized system Monday morning.

According to police, Gunderson made the threat on Snapchat.

The school district contacted police, and there was a police presence in all district buildings while authorities dealt with the threat.

The investigation shows Gunderson was in Eau claire. Eau Claire police were contacted and they took him into custody around 9:15 a.m. Monday.

 


Durand (WQOW) – One person is in custody after a threat was found on social media Monday morning.

According to the Durand-Arkansaw School District, administrators were told about the threat on a group social media page. The threat was made by a student outside of the Durand-Arkansaw district. The student threatened a school shooting but did not mention a date.

The school district contacted police, and there was a police presence in all district buildings while authorities dealt with the threat.

The person who made the threat was arrested by Eau Claire police around 9:15 a.m.

The Durand-Arkansaw School District wants to remind you that if your child is ever concerned about their safety in school, they should talk to someone they trust immediately.
