Bears Hope To Rewrite The Script At State Tournament

Clayton (WQOW) — For the fourth straight season, the Clayton girls basketball team has advanced to the division five state semifinals at the Resch Center in Green Bay.

The Bears have cruised to a 26-0 record overall so far this season, beating their opponents by an average of 34 points a game. The last three years though at state, they’ve come up just short in the semifinals losing all three years in the first game. But this group is determined to rewrite the script, and think that their experience, determination, and overall approach will get them to championship Saturday.

“This year I think we all have a different attitude going into it,” says senior guard Kiana Fall. “Thinking most of us our seniors and this is our last shot, but a lot of determination and a lot of grit, and we’re excited.”

“This group of seniors really has a determined outlook on things. We’ve gone down their and you know you’re going to play some good talent,” head coach Kevin Fall says. “Obviously the last three years we’ve ran into some teams with some D-1 prospects, that have gone on and had really good basketball careers. We’re not taking anything away from this Newman team, but we’re hoping that this is our year to get a win and get into that championship round.”
