HS Football Preview: Ramblers putting the pieces together for 2019

Eau Claire (WQOW) — Eau Claire Regis is coming off of an 11-1 season, with a level three exit in the playoffs. The Ramblers though are ready to put the pieces of the puzzle together in 2019, and make another run at Cloverbelt title.

They do return five all-conference players from last season, including first-team senior defensive lineman Henry Theisen and first-team specialist Tristan Root. The Ramblers also added a talented transfer from Grantsburg in senior Gabe Chenal, but a new year brings a new team still finding their identity.

“I think every year is a new year, it’s like putting pieces of a puzzle together,” says head coach Bryant Brenner. “We’ve got some kids with a little bit of experience, and a lot of new faces. So it’s going to be developing some chemistry and continuity with doing what we’re supposed to do, and learning what each other is best at.”

Regis didn’t waste any time in hitting the turf for their first practice of 2019. For the second straight year, the Ramblers held ‘Midnight Madness’ on their turf field at the high school. It’s an idea that started with last year’s senior class, and gives them an opportunity to get to work right away.

“Fun to be out here, we get to practice here tonight and get the season started,” Brenner says. “Our kids have really put in a lot of work, and I really commend them for coming out for football. We’re excited to be out here and get a little bit better.”

Regis opens the season with a conference game on the road against Cadott on August 23rd.
