Eau Claire (WQOW) — The Blugold football is fresh off of a bye, after starting the season 2-0 for the first time since 2010. But now they face their toughest test yet of 2018, a road game at third-ranked St. Thomas (2-0).
It will be the seventh straight year the Blugolds and Tommies battle it out on the turf, with St. Thomas winning all six of those contests. For head coach Dan Larson, this will be meeting number three. And even though the Tommies are one of the best programs in the nation, he thinks his players are confident after two straight wins.
“I’m hoping what they’re going to get out of these first couple weeks of the season, is that we are playing at a higher level of football then we have in the past,” says Larson. “I don’t think by any stretch of means necessary played a good game of football yet, we’ve played better but are capable of more. It’s a great opportunity on Saturday, so I’m hoping that they come out and play with a lot of confidence, and playing with a lot of belief in themselves, because they should.”
Kick-off is set for 1:10 P.M. on Saturday at O’Shaughnessy Stadium.
