Slaten named NWL Pitcher of the Year

Eau Claire (WQOW) — The Northwoods League announced the 2018 Postseason All-Star Team and award winners Sunday, and Express starting pitcher Justin Slaten was named Pitcher of the Year.

The New Mexico right-handed pitcher appeared in 11 games this summer for Eau Claire, winning a league high seven of them. He also led the NWL in strikeouts with 70 in 57 innings, including a league-low 1.58 ERA. His most dominating outing of 2018 came at home against Bismarck on June 6th, throwing eight innings only allowing one hit and no runs with 13 strikeouts total. Slaten was also a mid-season All-Star this season, as well as playing in the Major League Dreams Showcase.
