Eau Claire (WQOW) — The Express was one strike away from a 1-0 shutout of the Stingers, but Willmar scored one in the ninth and three more in the tenth to escape Carson Park with a 4-1 win.
Eau Claire snapped a scoreless tie with a sixth inning solo homer off the bat of Nick Brueser, and held that lead until the top of the ninth. Express starter Justin Revels recorded the first two outs, and had Jayson Newman 0-2 in the count, before Newman crushed a game-tying solo homer to left.
The Stingers scored their three tenth inning runs on an infield grounder, and a pair of bases-loaded walks.
Revels took a no-decision, but was sharp in the process, scattering five hits and allowing one walk while striking out six.
Eau Claire will host Mankato, Thursday, at 6:35 P.M.
