NWL Saturday: Express 10, Huskies 9

Duluth (WQOW) – The Express opened up their weekend series at Duluth, with a 10-9 win over the Huskies Saturday night.

Trailing 1-0 in the second inning, Eau Claire score three times to take the lead. Drew Hmielewski doubled in Ryan Bishop, Noah Sifrit advanced to first on an error bringing home Hmielewski, and Adam LaRock hit an RBI single scoring Sifrit. Duluth tied it up though in the bottom of the second with a pair of runs, but in the fifth a Nick Brueser strikeout caused an error at first scoring LaRock to take a 4-3 lead. Once again Duluth tied the game in the bottom half of the inning, but Eau Claire responded with three runs in the sixth. A Spencer Myers RBI single, LaRock walk, and Brueser strikeout and passed ball, gave the Express a 7-4 advantage. Then in the eighth, Eau Claire scored three more runs from an error and Andrew Pratt two-RBI single. Duluth scored five times over the final two innings, but the Express held on for the win.

Eau Claire wraps up the series with Duluth Sunday afternoon. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:05 P.M.
