Thunder Bay (WQOW) — The Express lost their second straight game Friday night in Thunder Bay, falling to the Border Cats in a shoot-out 13-11.
Eau Claire got on the board in the first inning, when Nick Brueser doubled in Andrew Pratt followed by an RBI single from David LaManna to make it 2-0. After Thunder Bay cut it to one in the bottom half, the Express answered with four runs in the second inning. A Mitchell Buban two-RBI single, Spencer Myers reaching on an error, and Noah Sifrit RBI single put Eau Claire on top 6-1. However, the Border Cats answered with five runs of their own in the bottom half, to tie the game up 6-6. The Express once again took the lead in the fourth, when Pratt drove in Sifrit with a single and also a LaManna RBI single making it 8-6. Then in the fifth after Thunder Bay cut the deficit to one, Myers drove in Devon Garcia on an RBI single to go back up by a pair. However, the damage was done in the bottom half as the Border Cats plated four to go ahead for good.
Eau Claire and Thunder Bay combined for 27 hits on the game, but also were sloppy on the field combining for ten errors. Sifrit led the way for the Express, finishing the game 3-5 with one RBI.
Eau Claire is back in action Saturday night in Duluth against the Huskies. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:35 P.M.
