NWL Thursday: Express 7, Border Cats 6

Thunder Bay (WQOW) — The Express snapped a two-game losing streak Thursday night in Thunder Bay, beating the Border Cats 7-6.

The game was scoreless until the top of the fourth, when Eau Claire scored a pair of runs with an RBI single by Adam LaRock and a wild pitch scoring Nick Brueser. The Express then extended the lead in the fifth inning, as an Andrew Pratt single scored Mitchell Buban followed by a Brueser sacrifice fly to make it 4-0. After Thunder Bay tied the game in the bottom of the fifth, the Express retook the lead in the seventh from a Brueser RBI single and David LaManna RBI double. The Border Cats once again answered in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game, but in the eighth a Pratt sacrifice fly scoring Buban would be the winning run of the game.

Carson Rudd picked up the win for Eau Claire on the mound, going seven innings giving up six runs with six strikeouts. The Express offense outhit Thunder Bay 14-7 on the evening.

Eau Claire will wrap up the series with the Border Cats Friday night, first pitch is scheduled at 7:05 P.M.
