Shae Brey back at EC Regis

Eau Claire (WQOW) — Eau Claire Regis is hosting a girls basketball camp this week, and among the Ramblers alums helping out is 2016 graduate Shae Brey, who just finished her sophomore season at Butler University.

Brey played in all 32 games for the Bulldogs in 2017-18, making 25 starts.  She averaged 3.7 points/game, with 5.6 rebounds/game.  Much like the young players she’s tutoring right now, Brey is looking to add to her game going forward.

"I hope to have a good role again this year," says Brey, "I think as a team we’ll be really good, so I’d like to just contribute in any way I can, whether that be rebounding, or just scoring when I can."

Brey averaged 3.3 points/game and 3.7 rebounds/game as a freshman, when she started ten games for the Bulldogs.   She says the transition from high school to Division I women’s basketball was tough at first, but she’s been able to adjust.

"I’ve definitely developed a lot, put on a lot more muscle and just strength," Brey says, "physically, it’s been a big transformation from my senior year of high school to now, and I feel a lot better running the court and everything, I just feel a whole lot stronger out there."

Brey was Butler’s second-leading rebounder last season, and was ranked 13th among Big East players in that category.
