NWL Friday: Express 4, Rox 3

Eau Claire (WQOW) — The Express survive a late rally to top the Rox, 4-3, and snap their eight game losing streak.

Both teams were scoreless after a rain delay in the fourth inning, but Bobby Seymour broke the ice with a solo shot to left in the top of the 5th. Eau Claire answered in the bottom of the inning, plating three runs – Cody Milligan capped the scoring with a 2 RBI single that put the home team up 3-1. Garrett Gouldsmith added another run in the 6th, extending the lead to three, but St. Cloud responded with two runs in the top of the seventh. Spencer Mraz and Erik Martinez combined to shutout the Rox the rest of the way.

Eau Claire’s record now stands at 5-12, with St. Cloud falling to 9-9. The Express next host the Duluth Huskies, Saturday, in a game scheduled to start at 6:35 P.M.
