Packers Clay Matthews hit in face during charity softball game

Packers linebacker, Clay Matthews, went to the ER after taking a line drive to the face at the annual Green and Gold Charity Softball Game in Grand Chute on Saturday.

A line drive off the bat of Lucas Patrick caught Matthews right in the nose. He immediately left the field, covering up his bloodied face. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Matthews was taken to the emergency room.

Packers receiver Davante Adams would relay to the crowd that Matthews was going to be ok. Played resumed 15 minutes later. Adams sported Matthews’ jersey and pitched for both squads behind a protective pitching net.

Matthews said on his Twitter account "Thank you for all the concern and well-wishes. I busted my nose pretty good and will have surgery once the swelling subsides. Thankful as it could have been much more serious."
