NWL Wednesday: Honkers 8, Express 5

Rochester, Minnesota (WQOW) — A five-run seventh inning is the difference, as Rochester hands Eau Claire its first loss of the 2018 Northwoods League season.

The Express opened the scoring on a first-inning fielders choice off the bat of Devon Garcia that plated Spencer Myers.  After a rain delay in the fourth inning, Garcia gave the Express a 5-3 lead in the 6th with a solo homer, the first of the season for Eau Claire.   That lead evaporated in the 7th, with Casey Dunlap’s bases clearing double being the big hit for the Honkers.

Eau Claire’s record stands at 1-1.  The Express will visit the La Crosse Loggers, Thursday.
