UWEC Hope Win Propels Strong Finish

Eau Claire (WQOW) — The UW-Eau Claire men's basketball team picked up their second WIAC win of the season on Saturday, topping UW-La Crosse 60-57 at Zorn Arena.

The victory keeps the Blugolds' hopes of making the conference tournament alive — although, those hopes are slim. With just five games remaining, Eau Claire is 2.5 games out of the sixth and final playoff spot.

Could Saturday's win propel a late season run?

“We'll have to see how these guys respond, how they come out on Monday and practice. If they come out like they just got a win, or if they're fighting for something. We'll see on Monday when we lace them up and practice and see how we play on Wednesday,” says head coach Matt Siverling. “These guys understand what's at stake, and they're need to continue to play like this every single game, because everybody in the conference is fighting for the same thing.”

The Blugolds are back on the court Wednesday at UW-Superior.
