MILWAUKEE (AP) — Zach Davies failed to hold an early lead and gave up a go-ahead double to Francisco Cervelli in the fourth inning that lifted the Pittsburgh Pirates over the Milwaukee Brewers 3-1. Milwaukee lost for just the fourth time in 15 games and dropped 2 1/2 games behind the NL Central-leading Chicago Cubs. The Brewers’ lead for the NL’s top wild card was cut to three games over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Colin Moran hit a tying RBI double in the second.
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Squally Canada ran for 118 yards and two touchdowns and BYU handed mistake-prone Wisconsin its first nonconference home loss since 2003, giving the No. 6 Badgers fits with its motion offense in a 24-21 victory. The Badgers missed a 42-yard field goal with 41 seconds left.
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has taken part in practice for the first time this week after being held out with a left knee injury. Rodgers was a participant in practice after being held out on Wednesday and Thursday to focus on rehab ahead of this weekend’s game against the Minnesota Vikings.
