UPDATE: Deputy Chief for Eau Claire Fire Department, Allyn Bertrang says that the fire was contained to the clinic and there was no threat to surrounding buildings.
Right now, crews are unaware of the extent of the damages, but the building is unusable.
Officials say they’re still investigating the origin of the fire, and they will continue to investigate throughout the morning.
UPDATE: What started as somewhat of a small fire at Chippewa Valley Eye Clinic has turned into a massive blaze.
Around 6:30 p.m. Eau Claire fire crews were called to the clinic on Eau Claire’s south side. A little more than an hour later the fire really took off and flames could be seen from the News 18 studios a little over a mile away.
News 18 is still working to find out what caused the fire.

Eau Claire (WQOW) — Multiple fire trucks responded to an apparent fire at the Chippewa Valley Eye Clinic Thursday night.
At approximately 6:30 p.m. Eau Claire fire crews were seen at the clinic, located at 2715 Damon Street, on the city’s south side.
News 18’s reporter on scene reported visible smoke at the time.
