Sale of Eau Claire Little Red School finalized

Eau Claire (WQOW) – The Little Red Elementary School is officially no longer the property of the Eau Claire Area School District.

The school closed more than a decade ago and had been sitting vacant ever since. As News 18 reported in September, the Eau Claire Area School Board voted to sell the Little Red Elementary School and the surrounding property.

The district announced Tuesday it had finalized the sale to two different entities.

Plumbers and Steamfitters Union 434 now owns 11.79 acres of the land, as well as the building. The cost was  $509,000. They plan to use it as a training and apprenticeship site.

The remaining 22 acres of land was sold to a party known as Martinek-Jereczek for $110,000.

In a release, Superintendent Dr. Mary Ann Hardebeck said: “We are pleased to announce the sale of the former Little Red Elementary property. After several months of discussion and consideration, the School Board determined that a sale of the property would be in the best interests of our school district and the students and families we serve.”
