Eau Claire (WQOW) – Police are investigating if an Altoona man charged with sexually assaulting a child may have also assaulted kids while employed at two area churches and children’s camps.
Bryan Braughton was charged Monday with two counts of repeated sexual assault of a child and one charge of causing mental harm to a child.
A girl told investigators Braughton frequently assaulted her, when she was between the ages of 6 and 13.
Police say Braughton confessed to the assault, and to also assaulting another 6 year old girl about a dozen times.
Police say Braughton has been involved with children’s ministries in two Eau Claire churches, and was a counselor for many years at church camps.
His bond was set Monday at $10,000. He’ll be back in court October 22.
