UPDATE: Bond set at $1M for Wausau shooting suspect

UPDATE: Henry West, the suspect in the Wausau cemetery shootings, will be held on a $1 million bond after a probable cause hearing in Marathon County Court Friday afternoon.

Judge Gregory Huber said during the hearing, “I do find there is probable cause to hold (West) on a million-dollar bond.”

West, who was represented by public defender Emma Lawton, held his bond argument for his initial appearance scheduled for Oct. 18.

According to a news release, officials did not disclose the identities of the victims in the shooting by name; however, they did confirm that a 52-year-old Wausau woman was fatally shot, while a 60-year-old man and 70-year-old woman, both from Wausau, are in critical and stable condition, respectively.


WAUSAU, Wis. (WAOW) — Wausau Police Chief Ben Bliven has confirmed the identity of the suspect in Thursday’s shootings at the Pine Grove Cemetery.

The suspect is identified as Henry West, 64, of Schofield.

West is expected to make his initial appearance in Marathon County Court Friday at 2 p.m. According to court records, an eviction case was also filed against West in August and re-opened in September.

Officials said Thursday that the Schofield apartment complex fire and the cemetery shootings were connected.
